Why I Started
Live Oak Learning

After years of working in education, I saw how much students thrive when learning is personal, consistent, and responsive to their individual needs.

As a certified Texas teacher, I've seen firsthand how strong instruction and meaningful support can help children build real confidence in their reading and learning.

While teachers in traditional public schools work incredibly hard, large class sizes and limited flexibility can make it difficult to give every child the time and attention they deserve.

Live Oak Learning was created to provide a more personalized approach--helping students strengthen foundational reading skills and grow into confident, capable learners.

My Story

Before my classroom career, I began my work in state parks as a naturalist, leading educational programs for visitors and school groups. I later became a zookeeper at the Houston Zoo, where I saw firsthand how powerful learning becomes when it’s hands-on, curiosity-driven, and connected to the real world. Those experiences continue to shape how I teach and help me bring meaningful, nature-based connections into learning.

I created Live Oak Learning to give families a warm, structured learning option that combines strong academics with meaningful connection. My goal is simple: to help children build strong roots in reading, writing, and learning while developing confidence, character, and a lifelong love of learning.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to support students and families as they grow into confident learners.
